Mercato di San Remo
A go to destination, has to be the Mercato di San Remo, the fresh food market in the centre of Town, even if only to appreciate this beautiful display of local merchandise. Check opening times, usually closed on Sunday.
Seasonal produce is in abundance at the pop-up stores, locally sourced and delivered daily. A visual appetite of fresh, herbs basil mint oregano, vegetables, courgettes, aubergines, tomatoes almost still warm from the Mediterranean sunshine, salads, rocket and baby leafed lettuces. The warm summer temperatures, ripens banks of peaches, nectarines watermelons, grapes, berries their sweet aroma greeting you as you enter this huge space, filled with delights.
Breads from the panic…salami from the salumi, and italian sausages, chickens, rabbits and beef from the butcher In Italian. Adjacent to the market is the market bar, perfect for an espresso or aperitivo. A haunt for the local merchants.
Along the cobbled street behind the market, try the wine merchant shops, their knowledge and expertise will ensure you leave with everything you asked for delivered with perfection.
